Pre-Anesthesia Diagnostics Assessment General Guidelines:
Healthy Patients:
- Adult Patient with No Co-Morbidities: CBC/Chemistry with SDMA within 6 months of the procedure.
- Senior Patient with No Co-Morbidities: CBC/Chemistry with SDMA and Urinalysis within 6 months of the procedure.
Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease:
- Cats with CKD Stage ≥3: CBC/Chemistry with SDMA and Urinalysis within 1 month of the procedure.
- Dogs with CKD Stage ≥2: CBC/Chemistry with SDMA and Urinalysis within 1 month of the procedure.
Patients with Heart Murmurs:
- Cats with Heart Murmur:
- Healthy Patient Guidelines; and,
- SNAP ProBNP (Idexx) or Quantitative ProBNP (Idexx) or Echocardiogram. (Please note if the SNAP ProBNP or Quantitative ProBNP are elevated, an Echocardiogram will be required.)
- Cats with Gallop Sound:
- Healthy Patient Guidelines; and,
- Echocardiogram.
- Dogs with Heart Murmur:
- Healthy Patient Guidelines; and,
- 3-View Thoracic Radiographs, Quantitative ProBNP (Idexx), and/or Echocardiogram.
Other Co-Morbidities:
- Case dependent; severity of condition and clinical response to medical management will be considered.
We reserve the right to adjust our recommendations on an individual basis as needed to better serve our clients and patients, with the goal of enhancing patient care and minimizing anesthetic risk.
